How it works/What to expect

How we work together

What to expect: services, communication, pricing + faqs.

Approach

Brand + web design is a collaborative process

I work collaboratively with you to deliver what your business needs to help you achieve your goals and dreams.

I take a holistic approach, so I can truly understand your business, where you want to take it and then work with you to create the plan, design, tech + website to help get you there.

Since every business is different, the process is typically different for each project, however, there are some common elements in every project that I outline here, so you know more or less what to expect from the process and from me as a service provider.

Services

My services include visual brand design, digital strategy, web design, web development and tech/software set up.

Project-based work vs. Ongoing support

PROJECT-BASED

  • Project-based work is flat rate
  • Any task/project that will take longer than 3 hours to complete is considered a project
  • Most projects have a lead time of 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on my current schedule

ONGOING SUPPORT

  • Is only available to previously established clients
  • Ongoing website changes are either billed hourly at $115/hour or via retainer, which start at $1100/month for 3 months.
  • Website changes include text, image replacement, new page and post creation, search engine optimization, launching online products/courses and more.

Process

Project-based work process

  1. An initial 30-minute meeting, to discuss your needs + your business
  2. I create a Proposal with deliverables and flat-rate cost for you to review
  3. Most proposals have 3-4 phases, and phases may vary depending on project size/type.
    1. Any needed revisions to the proposal are made
    2. The contract is signed
    3. First payment made, typically one-quarter of the project total
  4. On the start date
    1. We may/may not meet - depending on the project
    2. Meetings are scheduled for bi-weekly for the course of the project
    3. One-quarter of the project total is due
  5. The first phase is completed typically within 2 weeks to 8 weeks
    1. Feedback in bi-weekly meetings, as well as virtual feedback via email or other communication software, may be needed.
    2. One-quarter of the project total is due
  6. The second phase is completed typically within 2 weeks to 8 weeks
    1. Feedback & revisions
    2. Final payment for the project is due
    3. The third phase is completed typically within 2 weeks to 8 weeks.
    4. Third or Fourth phase includes launch and/or file delivery and any corrections that may pop up post-launch, for up to 30 days.

Pricing

How much does a project cost?

Your investment will vary, depending on the size of your project. Here is a good guide on the range of prices you can expect:

  • Very small projects and consulting start at $1,000
  • Formal Discovery (may be needed for large projects) pricing is $1,500
  • Visual branding projects start at $2,250 and can go up to $20,000, depending on the extent of assets your business needs.
  • Custom website projects are typically $7,000 - $30,000.
  • Custom membership or ecourse website projects are typically $12,000 - $30,000.
  • Custom website + a custom membership or ecourse website projects are typically $18,000 - $50,000.
  • Complete custom online launch design, development and live support during and post-launch for ecourse typically $15,000 - $50,000.

I do offer a monthly payment option for any project. It is also good to note that some larger projects may last for 6 - 9 months.

faqs

Do you write web copy (the website)?

The short answer is no. I generally do not write the copy for your website and it's not included in the pricing above. Typically it's best if you write it, since you know your audience better than anyone else. However, I do sometimes write headings and short snippets on large projects. I do have great copywriters on my team who can help you or write it for you, starting at $1000 per page.

Do you do SEO?

The short answer is yes, although this is a much bigger question than it may seem! Every site I create is set up to use good SEO practices and in your website build, my team will optimize your web pages and some of your blog posts. If you want to take it further, I do have an SEO expert on my team who can guide and implement excellent SEO for you starting at $2,500, if you're super serious about digging into it!

When will you be able to start my project?

Most projects are scheduled 2-4 months ahead of time. This varies based on my current workload. I try to keep my most current timing posted on my contact page here.

How accurate are your quotes?

After 8 years in business creating design and websites, I am confident in my quotes. There have been a couple of times when people have expended many more hours on revisions than I had mapped out, and in those cases I have had to charge additional fees. However, those have been very few. I strive to give everyone a flat rate. In the case that a project is about to go beyond scope, I notify the client beforehand, so we can make a plan to adjust the project before extra fees come into play.

What about stock images?

I first recommend you have your own photoshoot for the site’s photography. If that is not an option, then yes I do find the stock images. I charge you for the cost of each image in expenses.

If I'm not tech savvy, will this be a good fit?

A custom WordPress site will be a good fit if you’re comfortable using web-based software, Google search, and social media platforms. It will also work for you if you’re the type who tries figure stuff out on your own with the determination to continue when you don’t find a quick answer. It's also a good fit if you plan on hiring a professional to edit it for you on a regular basis. But, if you’re committed to maintaining and editing it yourself, and you are a self-admitted tech-phobe who is not comfy using Google search for answers, then I recommend you not go with a custom WordPress site.

Will I be able to edit the website?

Yes and no. Since I'm creating a strategically designing your website to work the best for your goals, you will not be able easily to change major elements or layouts, nor do I recommend it.  However, I do create a backend any user that is comfortable using any web-based software can easily edit basic things, like change text and images and post blogs. I also build in multiple custom page templates for new page creation in the future.

Each project has a 1-1 walkthrough and tutorial videos for how to make changes.

How much will ongoing maintenance cost?

You may choose to manage this on your own, or you may choose to hire me to maintain your site, pricing starts at just $45/mo for a simple custom site.
