FAQ

approach

Brand + web design is a collaborative process

I work collaboratively with you to deliver what your business needs to help you achieve your goals and dreams.

I take a holistic approach, so I can truly understand your business, where you want to take it and then work with you to create the plan, design, tech + website to help get you there.

While I would consider myself unicorn-like in my skills and knowledge, I do not "do-it-all". Below are frequent questions people ask me.

faqs

How does much a project cost?

Your investment will vary, depending on the size of your project. Here is a good guide on the range of prices you can expect:

  • Very small projects and consulting start at $1,000
  • Formal Discovery (may be needed for large projects) pricing is $1,500
  • Visual branding projects start at $7,500 and can go up to $20,000, depending on the extent of assets your business needs.
  • Custom website projects are typically $10,000 - $30,000.
  • Custom membership or online course website projects are typically $16,000 - $60,000.
  • Complete custom online launch design, development and live support during and post launch for an online course typically $15,000 - $50,000.

I do offer a monthly payment option for any project. It is also good to note that some larger projects may last for 6 - 9 months.

Do you write copy?

No, I do not write the copy for your website and it's not included in the pricing above. However, I do know great copywriters who can help you or write it for you, starting at $1,500 per page.

Do you do SEO?

The short answer is yes, although this is much bigger question than it may seem! Every site I create is set up to use good SEO practices and in your website build, my team will optimize your web pages and some of your blog posts.

If you want to take it further, I will refer you to an SEO expert who can guide and implement excellent SEO, if you're serious about digging into it!

Do you do Google Analytics, Google Ads, A/B testing, etc.?

The short answer is no. I do install Google Analytics on each website project, so you can track your traffic and use it as you wish. I will set up a Google My Business Page for $500, you if you need it. However,  I am not a Google Analytics expert, and I do not set up Goals, Conversions or Campaigns in Google. I never set up Google Ads or A/B testing. My top referral for these type of services is 1UP Digital Marketing: https://1updigitalmarketing.com/

How much will ongoing WordPress site maintenance cost?

You may choose to manage this on your own, or you may choose to hire me to maintain your site, pricing starts at just $45/mo for a simple custom site. You can review pricing and information about WordPress maintenance plans here.

What about photos and/or stock photos?

I first recommend you have your own photoshoot for the site’s photography. If that is not an option, then yes I do find the stock images. I charge you for the cost of each image in expenses, which are typically $30-75/each.

I also frequently use stock images that have no licensing requirements and may be used freely. If you are concerned about the cost of stock images, it may be best to specify that you prefer I use images that have a creative commons rating of CC0 or one that only requires attribution. Note here though - that finding free to use images can take a long time, so you may be billed extra time to search for good images.

How accurate are your quotes?

After 10 years in business creating design and websites, I am confident in my quotes. There have been a couple of times when people have expended many more hours on revisions than I had mapped out, and in those cases I have had to charge additional fees. However, those have been very few. I strive to give everyone a flat rate. In the case that a project is about to go beyond scope, I notify the client beforehand, so we can make a plan to adjust the project before extra fees come into play.

If I'm not tech savvy, will this be a good fit?

A custom WordPress site will be a good fit if you’re comfortable using web-based software, Google search, and social media platforms. It will also work for you if you’re the type who tries figure stuff out on your own with the determination to continue when you don’t find a quick answer. It's also a good fit if you plan on hiring a professional to edit it for you on a regular basis. But, if you’re committed to maintaining and editing it yourself, and you are a self-admitted tech-phobe who is not comfy using Google search for answers, then I recommend you not go with a custom WordPress site.

Will I be able to edit the website?

Yes and no. Since I'm creating a strategically designing your website to work the best for your goals, you will not be able easily to change major elements or layouts, nor do I recommend it.  However, I do create a backend any user that is comfortable using any web-based software can easily edit basic things, like change text and images and post blogs. I also build in multiple custom page templates for new page creation in the future.

Each project has a 1-1 walkthrough and tutorial videos for how to make changes.

Do you write privacy policies and cookie policies?

No. I recommend people use Iubenda: https://iubenda.com/en/. I will select the tech services your site is using in Iubenda and embed it on your website. If you feel uneasy or want to be sure you're doing everything correctly, I recommend you hire a lawyer. I am not a lawyer and do not provide legal advise to any client.

Do you provide font usage licenses?

Fonts

No.

For a font that is in a logomark or logotype, you will not need to purchase a license to use it, as it will be saved as an image.

If I specify fonts for your documents, website and collaterals, you may need to purchase a license to use that font and I legally cannot provide that to you. Fonts range in cost from $120 - $1,000 per family (family includes weights and styes, like regular, italic, bold, bold italic).
