And just why do I want to know where so-and-so ate for breakfast??
I was once you.
I did not understand the twitter “stuff”. But I have awesome news, now you too can “get it”. If you want to – and I have to say this is, by far, one of my biggest FAQs. So, that’s why I’m writing this…
Type marvel Jessica Hiche, who did the titles for Wes Anderson’s movie Moonrise Kingdom – can you say AWESOME?! – anyway, she made a website for her mom that explains the Twitter.
Here’s where you can check it out… Jessica Hische’s Twitter Site make sure you have time to sit down and get into it – it’s not brief. However it is thorough!
Let me be straight with you, it’s not a “Twitter for Business” thing.
The site really was just for explaining it to her mom.
But, if you are using twitter (or trying to use it) for business, I highly recommend you do 3 things:
- Get up close and personal with the advanced search. It’s SUPER awesome. Did you know you can search for things like, “Rachel Vane :(” and all the tweets with my name + a sad face will appear? Pretty dang cool if you’re fishing for clients/customers or doing marketing research…
- Follow and talk to people – especially people you look up to that you may not know. I’ve been mentioned by branding specialist Mars Dorian, Facebook Guru Mari Smith and Marketing goddess Marie Forleo. I’ve met clients, mentors and friends. You can get help with anything you’re brave enough to ask for!
- Understand the power and beauty of a #hashtag. Now that these are also on Instagram and Facebook I think more people get it. But if you don’t, Jessica explains it well.
Always remember Twitter is fun! 🙂
And if you’re not following me – do that now and practice you’re new skills by @mentioning me! :)!
